Book now for the
2012/13 academic year

AN INTRODUCTION

Nicola Elson is an educator, actor and creator who can come into your school to lead theatrical workshops that incorporate curriculum for any grade or for professional development.  She is a theatrical artist with over fifteen years experience, who has worked as an Artist in Residence in over a hundred schools.

Nicola can also work with students to create performance pieces.  Rather than using an existing script, students are given the opportunity to create their own theatrical presentation.  This is an excellent vehicle for students to explore their creativity, giving them a sense of ownership and pride in the work they create. It also reinforces the subject matter they are learning and allows them to work as a team.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN THROUGH THEATRE

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Nicola’s extensive experience as an educator has given her an in depth knowledge of school curriculum and an ability to incorporate subject matter into theatrical story telling.  She can bring in existing workshops geared to curriculum or can tailor make a workshop to suit your specific needs.  Past curriculum topics have ranged from Wetlands to Canadian Immigration to Italian Renaissance.  Theatrical styles range from Commedia dell' Arte (Mask) to Shadow Plays to Physical Theatre.  Nicola can also offer specialty workshops that focus on Environmental Issues such as Climate Change or Endangered Species.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Nicola offers workshops for teachers, facilitating drama games and exercises that develop team building skills and ensemble performance creation.  The workshop also focuses on innovative ways to incorporate curriculum into theatrical styles and captivating stories.

EXTRA CURRICULAR PROJECTS

Nicola can offer her skills as a Director for after-school theatrical projects such as the Annual School Play or Winter Concert.
